  • How will things pan out during the chase? Will West Indies chase this total down easily or will Ireland finish the series with a win? Do join us in a short while to find out.
  • The target does not look to be a massive one but West Indies did struggle during the chase in the 2nd ODI. They would be eyeing improvement in this area and register a clinical win to complete the clean sweep.
  • Hayden Walsh is down for an interview with Daren Ganga. Starts by saying it was all about pitching the ball in the right areas. Adds that as the game went on, the ball began to turn more so he tried his variations like the googly. Further says that the ball got a bit older and that is why he got more assistance off the pitch. Ends by saying that they wanted to restrict the Irish to a total of 180 or less but he is confident that his team's batters can knock this target out of the park too.
  • West Indies were really good with the ball throughout the innings. Oshane Thomas removed the openers early while Roston Chase and Hayden Walsh tightened the screws with their spin bowling. Walsh eventually finished with a 4-fer and stifled Ireland in the middle overs. Romario Shepherd and Alzarri Joseph too were excellent in their spells. Thomas removed the last man to finish with a 3-wicket haul.
  • A brilliant bowling performance from West Indies means Ireland can only manage a total of 203 runs. Their batting never got going as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals or rather, kept throwing their wickets away. Apart from Andy Balbirnie, the skipper, none of the Irish batters could contribute much with the bat. McCollum, O'Brien and Tucker, were able to get starts but failed to make it count. A 25-run knock off 22 balls from McBrine in the final overs helped them get over the 200-run mark.
  • 49.1 OUT! CAUGHT! That ends it. Good length ball on middle, Young looks to heave it away to the leg side but gets a top edge and goes miles up in the air. It goes towards long off. Keemo Paul, the substitute, runs across from long off and manages to take the catch. This is a good catch as the long on fielder was also coming across but Paul is conscious of it and makes no mistake. IRELAND HAVE BEEN BOWLED OUT FOR 203.
  • 48.6 Full on off, Young pushes it to cover for a single. 203/9
  • 48.5 Driven through mid off by the batsman. The batsmen have run through for a single.
  • 48.4 DROPPED! Alzarri Joseph is the culprit. He drops the easiest of catches. Short ball on middle, Young looks to short arm jab but it takes the top edge and lobs towards mid off. Joseph runs ahead from mid off but fails to hold onto it.
  • 48.3 Full delivery on middle, Young works it to mid-wicket.
  • 48.2 Very full delivery outside off, Young looks to drive but it takes the inside edge and goes towards fine leg. The batters take two and Ireland reach 200.
  • 48.1 Yorker on middle, Young digs it out to mid-wicket.
  • 48.1 WIDE! Wayward delivery! Full toss down the leg side, Young looks to flick but misses.
  • 47.6 FOUR! Good end to the over for Ireland! Back of a length delivery on off, McBrine rocks back and has pulled that one behind square leg uppishly. The umpire has gone upstairs to check whether this one is a boundary or a maximum. Replays roll in and confirm it is a boundary. 197/9
  • 47.5 Another yorker bowled by Thomas, Craig jams this one out back towards the man at mid on for a single.
  • 47.4 Very wide length ball outside off, Young looks to slash at it but misses the ball.
  • 47.3 Now Thomas bowls a yorker just outside off, Young jams it out towards the man at point.
  • 47.2 Thomas comes back with a bouncer on middle and leg, Young ducks under it.
  • 47.1 FOUR! Bad ball to start off the over! Down the leg side, Young just helps it fine down the leg side for a boundary.
  • 46.6 Full delivery on middle, McBrine works it to mid-wicket. 188/9
  • Craig Young is the last man in for Ireland.
  • 46.5 OUT! CAUGHT! Gone! 9th wicket falls and in an attempt to go for the big shots, McCarthy perishes. Full delivery on middle, McCarthy looks to heave it over long on and seems to have timed it well. But it goes straight to Brandon King stationed at long on. This is a big ground and that is why it might have not carried to the ropes.

  • 46.1 WIDE! Full delivery down the leg side, McBrine looks to flick but misses. It is wided by the umpire.
  • Romario Shepherd is back into the attack. He has been very economical so far, with his figures reading 8-2-20-0.
  • 45.6 Short ball ball by Thomas to end the over. On middle and off, McCarthy looks to pull but misses. 180/8
  • 45.5 Good length ball on off, McCarthy defends this one towards the off side.

  • 45.3 This time just outside off to McCarthy, he hops and defends this awkwardly towards the leg side.
  • 45.2 Another length ball, this time just outside off. McBrine opens the face of his bat and guides this one towards the third man region for a single.
  • 45.1 Length ball on the off pole line, defended towards the man at cover.
  • Oshane Thomas returns. 7-0-31-2 are his numbers so far. He removed the openers early. Can he take the final 2 wickets as well to bundle Ireland out?
  • 44.6 Another yorker. This time it is bowled on the pads, McCarthy looks to work it down the leg side but misses to get hit on the pads. Good over for Ireland as 11 runs have come off it but Alzarri Joseph made a good comeback in the final four balls. 179/8
  • 44.5 Excellent yorker from Joseph. It is bowled around on middle, Barry just about manages to dig it out. The ball rolls to the bowler.
  • 44.4 Short one around middle, McBrine pulls it to fine leg for a single.
  • 44.3 Full on middle, Andy pushes it back to bowler.
  • 44.2 SIX! Whacked! Ireland need more of these. Joseph bangs in a short one around middle, McBrine goes back and pulls it over the backward square leg region for a biggie.
  • 44.1 FOUR! Short delivery on middle and leg, McBrine pulls it to fine leg. Oshane Thomas runs across from deep square leg and dives. He does not know where the ball is and the ball goes onto touch the ropes. Joseph is not at all impressed with Thomas' piece of fielding.
  • 43.6 On the pads, Andy McBrine goes onto the back foot and works this one towards the point region for a single. A wicketless over this and that means the 5-wicket haul eludes Hayden Walsh. His final figures are 10-0-36-4. 168/8
  • 43.5 Outside off, this time Barry manages to cut this one towards point and takes a single.
  • 43.4 McCarthy goes back in his crease and defends this one towards the leg side.

  • 41.6 The batsman has played that off the front foot and into the ground. 163/8

  • 41.4 Outside off, Andy pushes it to point.
  • 41.3 Floated on middle, pushed back to the bowler.
  • Some movement near the boundary line. The groundstaff is getting ready. Looks like drizzle is back. Probably not too heavy to stop play.
  • Barry McCarthy is in at 10.
  • 41.2 OUT! CAUGHT! Walsh has his fourth and he celebrates! He has been brilliant today and now has a chance to take a 5-fer. Walsh tosses this one up outside off, Adair plays across the line and attempts the slog sweep. It takes the top edge and goes high up in the air. Chase settles himself under it at square leg and pouches it safely.

  • Andy McBrine walks in next.
  • 39.5 OUT! LBW! Umpire's call it is and Ireland have lost another one. Brilliant from Walsh. Flatter delivery on middle, Singh looks to flick but misses to get hit flush on the pads. The West Indian players appeal and the umpire thinks for a while and gives it out. Singh goes for the review after having a word with his partner. The Ball Tracker rolls in and it shows that it was pitching in line, the impact was in line and it is umpire's call on hitting the stumps. Ireland do not lose the review.
  • Simi Singh has been given out LBW. It has been taken upstairs. It looks very close. There is no bat and it is umpire's call on the Ball Tracker, so Singh has to walk back. Ireland though keep their review.

  • Drinks! West Indies have done well and have restricted Ireland to 150/5 so far. They are on top at the moment and would look to restrict them to as low a score as possible. Ireland though need their skipper, Andy Balbirnie to continue and get them to a respectable score.

  • A warm welcome to the final ODI between West Indies and Ireland in Grenada. The hosts won a close encounter the last time around, winning by 1 wicket. That too with the help of some great batting by the lower order. They would now hope that the top order comes good and put in a dominating performance. On the other hand, Ireland improved their performance in the second match taking the match to the very end. Their batting though has been a cause of concern. Andy Balbirnie would want one big innings from one of their batsmen which has not yet happened in this series. There was some overnight rain. Good news is that there is no rain as of now and the match should start on time. Will Ireland end the ODI series on a high or will the hosts complete a whitewash? Stay tuned for the toss and the teams.

West Indies Vs Ireland Live Score (ODI) Ball by Ball Commentary

  • That's it from the ODI series then. West Indies have equaled Sri Lanka in terms of points in the ICC ODI rankings with this 3-0 series win. Now, it is time for some T20I action as both West Indies and Ireland take on each other in the 3-match T20 series, the first one of which will be played on January 15 Wednesday. The game will begin at 1300 local (1700 GMT). We will love your company for that game. Till then, take care!
  • Kieron Pollard, West Indies skipper, starts by saying that he is really pleased with the performance. Credits the bowlers for superb outings in all the games. Feels that they were accurate with respect to lines and lengths. Praises the batting from centurion Lewis, King and Pooran for their contribution. On the team changes, Pollard says that they have had discussions on the changes in the dressing room. Talking about Hetmyer missing out from this game, Pollard tells that it is good for West Indies cricket as it tells the dynamics of the side.
  • Andy Balbirnie, Ireland skipper, tells that they were outclassed by the West Indies bowlers. Feels that 250-260 should've been a good total. Adds that he is really proud of the boys and they will continue working hard. On the positives from the series, Balbirnie believes that the second game was a positive one for them. Feels they had a chance to win the game but they missed out on that one. Finishes by saying that they have the right balance in the squad and they have brought in some freshness to the T20I squad.
  • EVIN LEWIS IS NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH AND SERIES! Tells that he certainly is a relieved man as all the hard work he put in the nets came off today. Shares that his approach has not changed and adds that there was some spin but it was a really good wicket for batting. On his missed chance of scoring a century in the first ODI, Lewis says that he was determined this time to execute his plans and is delighted to score his maiden century in the Caribbean. Lets everyone know that the captain and coach are backing the players well and all their hard work in the nets is coming off nicely.
  • Ireland were extremely poor with their batting approach and apart from Andy Balbirnie, there was no fight shown by them. Hayden Walsh had a brilliant game where he claimed the third 4-wicket haul by a West Indian bowler in this series. During the chase, Evin Lewis displayed excellent form and stroked his third ODI ton. His partnerships with Brandon King and Nicholas Pooran were enough to see West Indies home.

  • 5.2 OUT! McCarthy strikes and draws first blood! Hope is very much trapped in front. Brilliant delivery by McCarthy. He spears in a fuller length ball around off at 130 kph and gets it to nip back into the batsman off the seam. Hope attempts to play it across the line but fails to make any connection. The ball strikes him on the pads, they appeal and the umpire lifts his finger after thinking for a while. Shai has a chat with his partner before taking the DRS but the technology doesn't aid him here. No bat on the Ultra Edge and the Ball Tracker shows that everything is in line and the leg stump is getting disturbed. The only review is consumed. Yet another average outing for Hope in this series. Let's see what Sunil Ambris can do now as he joins Lewis out in the middle.
  • LBW Shout! Up goes the finger. Shai Hope is not looking too confident here. He walks up to his partner and has a chat. Takes the DRS after that. The Ultra Edge finds no wood and the Ball Tracker returns three reds.

  • The wind has picked up. Let's hope all the clouds will get blown away.

  • 4.4 Eases a full ball down through mid on for a single.
  • 4.3 Andy continues to fire it in. He is not giving the ball enough air to spin and grip. It is on middle and off, it is pushed to long on for a single.

  • 4.1 Flatter delivery on off, skidding back in, Lewis pushes it out with an angled bat.
  • 3.6 Miscues it in the air! Lewis tries to take on the bowler and hence swings his bat across the line at a length ball around off. • 0.6 Quicker through the air on middle, defended back. A quiet beginning but there is no need to rush for West Indies here with the required rate just around 4. 2/0
  • 0.5 Driven through mid off by the batsman. They pick up a single.
  • 0.4 Tossed up ball on middle, Hope works it with the turn to mid-wicket and opens his account with a run.
  • 0.3 Plays it with the spin but finds the fielder at square leg.
  • There is some drizzle in the air!
  • 0.2 Flighted and full around off, Shai is on the front foot as he pushes it to mid off.
  • 0.1 Starts with a flatter and shorter ball on middle, Hope eases himself on the back foot and punches it towards mid on.
  • Back for the run chase, folks! There is no rain threat currently as the sun is out but there are a few clouds around too. Out come the Irish players on the field. They were dismal with the bat and now will have to bowl out of their skins to make a match out of this one. West Indies are opening with Shai Hope and Evin Lewis and would hope that their openers provide a good start, unlike the last two ODIs. Spin to begin for Ireland. It's Andy McBrine to roll his arm. A slip in place...
